ICC T20 Rankings: KL Rahul remains top-ranked India batsman; Kohli, Dhawan move up

After extending his rich vein of form to the recently concluded 3-match series Sri Lanka series, KL Rahul has retained the sixth position in the first ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings of the seasons on Saturday.


In the series that India won 2-0 with one match washed out, KL Rahul scored blistering 45 and 54 to stake a claim for the 2nd opener's role behind Rohit Sharma in India's limited-overs squad.

Rahul, the highest-ranked India batsman, has gained 26 points is now on 760 rating points, just six behind Australia’s Glenn Maxwell.

Comeback man Shikhar Dhawan, who looked rusty in the 2nd T20I in Indore scored 36-ball 52 in Pune that helped him jump one spot to 15th position in the ICC Players Rankings. India skipper Virat Kohli, top-ranked in Tests and ODIs, has also advanced one place to take the 9th position in the recent list. Manish Pandey has advanced four places and is ranked 70th.

The India and England skippers have moved one place up in the @MRFWorldwide ICC T20I Rankings for batting!

Meanwhile, young India fast bowlers have also taken big leaps in the ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings for Bowlers.

Player of the series Navdeep Saini who finished with 5 wickets in the series has jumped 146 places to 98th while Shardul Thakur, who not only took 5 wickets in the series but also fired 8-ball 22 in Pune, re-entered in 92nd position. Jaspreet Bumrah, who made his comeback in the side after recovering from a lower-back fracture, has gained eight places to reach 39th position.

In the ICC Men’s Team Rankings, India have gained two points but remain in fifth position with 260 points, while Sri Lanka have lost two points and now have 236, the same as Afghanistan.
